The Story Behind the Book
A Little Respect
As a mother and educator, I’ve spent years listening to the questions children bring into the classroom. One that came up again and again was about respect. Many believed it was just about being nice—but respect is much more than that. You can be kind without truly respecting someone, and that difference is where the real learning begins.
This book was born from those moments. I wanted to create a story that parents and teachers could share aloud, sparking meaningful conversations and helping children discover what respect really means in their daily lives.
Through the eyes of a curious young child full of questions, readers are invited on a playful yet thoughtful journey—one that inspires reflection, kindness, and understanding in a way that feels fun and real.

Anna, a third-grader, struggles to understand the concept of respect until her teacher sends a note to her mother detailing a situation that happened in school. Anna's mother, lovingly and playfully, helped her understand what respect means and how to show it in different ways. Then, she takes Anna on an unforgettable journey that will profoundly change her life. After their conversation, Anna becomes inspired and comes up with an idea to share with her classmates that could positively impact her life and the lives of her peers.
